Tag Details

Archery: Attendees purchase a tag that allows them to bow hunt elk in nearly every unit in Utah. In spike units, hunters may harvest a spike or cow elk from Aug 21 - Sep 10, 2027. In any bull units, hunters may harvest cow or bull elk from Aug 21 - Sep 22, 2027.

Spike units have denser elk populations, but you cannot harvest a bull with branched tines. Any bull units have less dense elk populations, but you may harvest a cow or a bull. Following these seasons, hunters may harvest a cow or bull elk in an extended archery unit until Dec 15, 2027.

We have our course from Sep 1-7 because it is right as the rut is ramping up and gives you the best opportunity to see and call elk, while allowing you to continue hunting after the course if you choose.

Spike Only Rifle: Attendees purchase a tag that allows them to harvest a bull elk with an unbranched antler on at least one side in any spike unit from Oct 9 - 21 2027. These units have more elk, but you are limited to harvesting spikes.

Any Bull Rifle: Attendees purchase a tag that allows them to harvest any bull elk from an any bull unit. Season dates are either Oct 9-15 2027 or Oct 16 - 22, 2027, depending on which course dates you signed up for.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Please reach us at [email protected] if you cannot find an answer to your question.

WILL I BE ABLE TO HUNT?

Yes! You will have your own elk tag in your pocket. You can harvest a bull if you get the chance.

HOW MANY HUNTERS / STUDENTS WILL ATTEND EACH SET OF COURSE DATES?

8 to 12 students will attend each set of dates. Don’t worry, Utah is a big state and there are plenty of areas to hunt so as to not step on toes.

DO I NEED TO GET A TAG AND LICENSE?

No. We will procure the tags for you for to make things hassle free. But keep in mind the cost of the state tag and license is not included in the course!

WHICH DATES SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Each set of dates will come with its own set of plusses and minuses. Here is some info on each set of dates to help you make your decision. All tags are OTC but can be difficult to obtain so me and my team will obtain your tags for you.

All dates will be in both any bull units and spike units. Hunters who are archery hunting in any bull units are allowed to harvest any elk, cows, and bulls, regardless of size. Hunters in spike units may only harvest cow elk or bulls with an unbranched antler on at least one side. During the later rifle hunts, hunters in any bull units may harvest any bull, but only bulls. Any bull units have less dense elk population, but allow hunters can shoot any bull they find. Hunters in spike units may only harvest bulls with an unbranched antler. These units have more elk, but you are limited to harvesting spikes.

WHAT DOES THE SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE?

Day 1: Hunters will arrive at 9 a.m., set up their tents, get settled, and have lunch. The remainder of day one will be spent doing in-person coursework.

Day 2: Long Distance Morning Glassing, Practicing Elk Calls, Planning a Route, Evening Glassing.

Days 3-4: Hunting with guides teaching you skills throughout the day.

Days 5-6: Our guides will help you plan your own hunt and then you will implement that plan.

WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE?

In September the weather can be all over the place, most likely it will be in the high 80s during the day with it getting down to the low 40s maybe even 30s at night. By the time we get to October it will be generally high 70s and freezing and below at night, We have had a couple of snow storms up there in October, and we have also had occasional days in the high 80s in October. The weather can be all over the place, so I would come prepared for both.
