This course is for those who don't want or can't afford a guided hunt, but would still like to have a mentor help them accelerate their growth. It's also nice to have all the equipment there ready to go if you are traveling far, or just don't want to deal with the hassle of packing and moving all the equipment. It's a highly affordable way for hunters to get out and practice elk hunting, being cheaper than a week at at many hotels. This hunt pairs very well with the elk hunting summit.

Hunters will arrive to the camp the night before their hunt begins. All sites will be chosen so hunters can drive passenger vehicles to them. It is highly recommended that each hunter brings a 4-wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle.
That is a hard question to answer as spike units and any bull units each come with their own set of pluses and minuses. In a spike unit, hunters will generally see a lot more elk and have less pressure from other hunters. It can be frustrating seeing a giant bull and not be able to pull the trigger. The any bull units are nice because you can shoot a large bull if you see one, but can also be frustrating because there are lower elk numbers and more pressure from other hunters.
If given the choice on which unit would be better for a first time hunter, Tate would probably say the spike units. It is easier to stay motivated when you are seeing elk everyday, and the bulls will be more responsive to calls in these areas. And there are spikes around. If you have hunted before or are up for a fun challenge, any bull units are the way to go.
The reality is that OTC hunting is hard and can be frustrating, especially to people who otherwise primarily hunt on private land. But it is also rewarding and accelerates growth. When you finally do get the tag of a lifetime, the question will no longer be, "will I kill an elk," the question will be, "how big."
Due to logistics of this event, course payments are non-refundable, but may be transferred to another individual.
